Have fun with Accessories

Accessories are like the perfect spice. They compliment what is already there…

Yes – I do believe that shoes are the most important part of an outfit.
No – that doesn’t mean it’s the only thing you can think about!

I love spending time finding great accessories that can help make an outfit pop – in fact, aside from changing a pair of shoes, accessories are the easiest and most noticeable ways to affect how you look. By adding a great pair of earrings you can achieve an immediate style pop. A bag can be the thing that draws the eye and even easier, now that spring is here and summer around the corner, add a fabulous pair of sunnies.

I always have so much fun shopping for accessories (OK, I admit it, I pretty much have fun shopping for ANYTHING)…but for accessories, it’s an easy one, you can just buy whatever and then find things to go with it. Earrings are a personal favorite of mine – I definitely love statement earrings, especially when I am wearing my hair up.

If you are looking for a way to “up” your style game, accessories are the perfect way to do it. Buy a fabulous pair of earrings or necklace (find some of my top picks at the end of this post that you can shop, a pair of fun sunnies (shop mine right here), or even a set of bead bracelets or bangles for your summer styling (see the end of the post to shop more of my picks).

Who Needs Pockets? 5 Reasons That Designer Handbag Is The Right Choice

“I’m not one in a million type of girl, I’m a once in a lifetime type of Woman!”

Every woman who is interested in fashion will have noticed the lack of pockets in all their clothes. Coats have pocket outlines, but often the pockets themselves are sewn shut. Jeans often have pocket outlines, but again, the pockets are just for decoration and not for practical use. The fashion industry is extremely smart, as their lack of pocket design means that they get to sell more beautiful handbags and we all know how much we girls love our handbags.

Over the shoulder, across the body, clutch, on the back – you name it, it’s on the shelves. Handbags dominate the accessories portion of the shops, alongside coin purses and functional wallets such as the Bricraft RFID zipper wallet, which not only carries cards and cash but protects you from ID fraud. Women love their accessories and the fashion bigwigs know this and in a way, take advantage of it. No pockets tends to mean that you now have to buy a bag and a purse – oh what a shame that is! Justifying the cost of a new designer handbag may seem like a big deal, but don’t worry. We get it. We understand that there are good reasons for investing so, check out our top five reasons that you should absolutely buy that gorgeous bag!

  1. It’ll Last. A designer handbag often costs a lot of money and there’s always a good reason. You’re paying for quality material and quality workmanship and you won’t necessarily need to buy another bag for a fairly long time. Unless, you know, you want to.
  2. Sales. Most designer handbags go on sale through the year and let’s be honest, who hasn’t looked at a handbag sale, seen them for half the cost and invested? Yeah, us too.
  3. Impressions. First impressions are important and if you’re buying a designer handbag so that you can replace a shabby looking one, then it’s worth it. Dressing to impress counts for something, especially in the workplace, and if you have a beautifully supple leather handbag on your arm, you’re going to do just that.
  4. Style. Having style is important when you are someone who wants to keep up with current trends. No one wants to look outdated, especially if you’re heading to work with your new bag every day! Updating your appearance is important for some and a handbag can do so much for your look!
  5. Feel-Good Factor. That feeling of buying something beautiful, new and just for yourself can last you some time. There’s something wonderfully uplifting about treating yourself to something new and you can really give your self-esteem a boost.

Browsing the very many designer bags on the shelf could take some time and when you see the price tag, don’t forget all the reasons you’re buying that bag. You haven’t got any pockets, and you’ve got a wallet, a phone and your keys to carry around as well as all the other secrets women carry in their bags. Invest today and you’ll not regret it tomorrow.

If your family is anything like mine then you know your kids or husband is going to ask you to carry their phones, keys and many other things that you have no idea why they’ve brought it with them!

Gold is It!

“Let your dreams be bigger than your fears!”

In yesterday’s post I featured my new favorite Gold booties.  Gold is one of my favorites right now, it is such a versatile color to wear and accessorize with.  The patent booties from yesterday were definitely statement making, and in today’s post I am featuring my current favorite handbag.

I have moved away a little from the larger totes, and I am really enjoying the size and of course the color of this cute little bag.  It has a longer strap that can be used if you want to wear the bag as a cross body bag, but I am using it without that and liking how it sits perfectly on my shoulder.

I feel like as Spring is quickly approaching metallics are going to continue to be such a great hit, so why not try adding some pieces to your wardrobe.

I used to switch out my handbag very frequently (in fact I used to do it almost every day) because I wanted it to match every outfit I wore.  One of the great things about a Gold or another metallic bag is that you don’t need to do that, it works with so many different outfits.  Yes, I do realize that I am wearing glasses in this post…I really only need them for night driving, but I was going for a librarian look in this shoot 🙂

My bag is a Michael Kors, and you can find that one and similar others as well as some of my favorite metallic picks right now by clicking one of the links below!

Matching Colors

“Climb mountains not so the World can see you, but so you can see the World.”

Yesterday I posted about wearing Tan with Black and White…well, I wanted to give a little more detail!

I have heard lots of people talk about how they only ever buy black shoes or purses, because most of their clothes are black or dark colors. I am here to tell you, that doesn’t need to be the case. You can certainly wear shoes in other colors with black as well as using a purse in a different color. Gone are the days when you have to match your purse to your shoes, and clothes…you can truly stand out by pairing your outfits with other colors.

Something I what really enjoy doing is wearing a relatively conservative outfit and then pairing it with some great bold shoes or a great bag. So how do you do this? There are some colors that work better with others, but if you are just looking at pairing something with a neutral color like Black, Brown or White, pretty much anything can go.

Yesterday I chose to wear Tan with the black and white dress that I wore, and the shoes were a nude color. The effect was noticeable and definitely not “normal” – which is GOOD!

Next time you are out looking for a new pair of shoes or a bag, my challenge to you is to pick out one that is not what you would typically buy…try a different color, style or pattern. I know designer shoes and bags can be expensive so it is scary to think of having to buy multiple pieces especially if you are on a budget. There are so many ways to buy cheaper designer or name brand pieces without having to break the bank – that will give you an opportunity to buy more than one pair of shoes or bag so that you don’t have to buy it thinking it needs to go with everything.

You probably already know this but my motto is “you can never have too many pairs of shoes because they are what makes the Woman!”
