Today’s post is about how it is important to pick the right colors for your skin tone.
The dress I have highlighted in this post is a prime example. It is an amazing color, but it is also a color that would not suit everyone. You may have clothes already in your closet that are not the most flattering color for you…if that is the case, the easiest way to figure out which colors do and do not work for you is to take a picture. Sometimes looking in the mirror is not enough to decide if something works, especially because unless you are in a fitting room, the lighting is not going to show you EXACTLY how you look. Take a selfie, or have someone else take a picture of yourself somewhere the lighting is good. Once you pull up the picture, you should be able to see if the color washes you out, or even worse, if it accentuates something you don’t want it to! If you find things like this in your closet, you are left with a few options…you can either give them away or if you don’t want to part with them, just use them for when you are slouching around at home.
The next step is to make sure when you are out shopping that you either try on what you are looking to buy, or at the very least, hold it up to yourself and look at yourself in the mirror. This way you will be able to accomplish the same result as at home.
Wearing the right colors is something that is really important in any situation. Colors can say things about us, for example: Black is professional yet conservative, Red is daring and a little “cheeky”… As you are preparing your outfits consider your color choices based on how other people are going to view them – if you have an interview don’t perhaps be too loud with your color choices, etc, etc.
