“When you are authentic you create a certain energy – people want to be around you because you are unique!”
Over the past few months there has been a lot going on in the Barber home, meaning that I have not been as diligent in posting to the blog, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been creating the content in my mind…and now it appears that I am bursting to share!!
So let’s talk about what being authentic means and why I consider it to be one of the most important traits ANY person can have. I have to admit that I have a little bit of a radar in me that just seems to recognize and only really want to connect with the most authentic people, and actually even shy away from those that are not. I realize that my first thought may not be the best thought because there really is a little bit of good in everyone…let me explain.
I have always been that person that if I say I am going to do something – you had better believe it WILL BE DONE.
I believe in following my heart to those things that make me feel good – and sometimes that is not the popular choice.
Knowing that I am not compromising my beliefs, my culture, my relationships or my standards I am able to feel amazing about myself because I know who I am.
Even as a child I didn’t take the easy route – I always loved a challenge and I particularly loved the opportunity to prove to myself that I was capable even against great odds.
When I connect with friends, or make new ones, I share with them the real me. There is nothing about me that I feel I have to hide!
I only ever talk about things that are important to me and I absolutely don’t mind if not everyone agrees with me. But that doesn’t mean we still can’t be friends 😉
When I first created this blog I really didn’t know what I was doing I just knew that I wanted to share some of my experiences, add some style in the hopes that I could help other women particularly know that they aren’t alone and that they could find someone with a like-mind. What I found was that a lot of people start blogs to share what they know just like me, but what ends up happening is that they are enticed by companies paying them to promote, endorse and even encourage others to buy products that they don’t actually use nor do they like. That just doesn’t sit well with me, so know this – if I share something, it’s because it is something that I use, I love and I want to share my feelings with you.
So now that I’ve shared with you my thoughts about authenticity, where do you think you fall in that category?
Are you guarded when you meet new people or are you open the possibilities of what a new relationship could bring?
Because I am 100% committed to being authentic, stay tuned for me sharing some things that are super important to me and what they could mean to you!
