Where to find your Unique Style

When I first moved to Utah I had the hardest time finding clothes and styles that I felt fit my own unique style. Over the years I have learned some tricks, and found some great places to find some unique clothes.

I started out by travelling far and wide (out of state to New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles to name a few), but then I figured out that if you look in the right places and know what you are looking for, you can find many things in Utah too. There are also online stores that are great, but these can be a challenge because you don’t really know how things will fit and then if they don’t work you have to return them.

If I am looking for something that is stylish and perhaps even a little different, I always look at Forever 21. They don’t always have the best quality, however, I have found some things there that are unique and that is ultimately what I am looking for. I started shopping at Forever 21 when I would travel to California, so when they came to Utah it was great news for me. H&M is another “go to” for me, because they turn over their inventory quite often, which means that not everybody is going to be out there wearing the same clothes as you!

Nordstrom is a great store, and Nordstrom Rack is even better. I think it must be the bargain hunter in me that likes the thrill of getting something great and getting a deal on it! I have bought designers purses, shoes, jewelry, clothes and accessories from there. They have such a great return policy that if you don’t like it or something goes wrong, they will return it with no questions – definitely worth it to me! The same goes for TJ Maxx – it is a store that requires patience just like Nordstrom Rack, because you have to dig around, but you can find great deals. Not a store that is recommended for someone that has shopping anxiety because there are just too many things that are not organized or displayed making it hard to “see” how things will really look when you wear them.

Finally, I love to explore some of the quaint boutiques that are around Salt Lake – very often I see in those boutiques clothes that I have seen on my travels to New York or California…

Some of my favorites are: Hip & Humble, Q Clothing, Whimsy, Apt 202. There are many more, these are just some of the boutiques where I have found things that I love.
