Another great find from my shopping trip to New York is this great dress. I wore it for church today and got so many compliments. I love the pattern, the cut, the length – I guess just love pretty much everything about it.
It is Navy with big white roses, so I chose to wear it with some Royal Blue pumps with ankle ties. The accessories were simple – pearl and gold earrings and a pearl and gold Kate Spade necklace.
With a long dress like this make sure that it isn’t too long so that it drags on the floor. Mine was fine when I wore heels, but was a little too long to wear flats. Obviously not everyone will have the same issues that I did – I am 5’5″ and my guess is that these dresses are made for average height, if you are taller you would have the choice to wear flats or heels (unless of course you want to hem the dress).
It was the pattern that especially attracted me to this dress, the navy and white combination is classy but also fun. If you choose to wear a dress like this make sure that you pick out colors and patterns that work for your complexion and that if you have a busy pattern you don’t overwhelm the outfit with too many accessories or fancy shoes. Adding a pop of another color like I did with my shoes was great, but choosing shoes with too much detail would not have worked with this dress.
I say be bold and choose a dress that is a little different and see the response you get from people. I have said this before but I wanted to say it again “As women we dress for ourselves, but it certainly is a great gauge of how great something looks when people tell us” – not that we need it, but it certainly feels good to know that we have made a great choice.
