After spending part of the week in 108 degree weather last weekend, we opted to head home early and went on a hike in the mountains to cool down even more. It was amazing, as we were heading up to the trailhead the boys were fighting, arguing, and just generally being mean. I noticed after a little while (after the initial complaining about their phones not working up in the canyon and them being unable to catch Pokemon) that they started to fight less, and enjoy what we were doing more.
The hike wasn’t a really long one, but we did hike up to some beautiful falls and really experienced nature and enjoyed each other’s company. As we were talking on the hike back down it was even suggested that we do this more often (the best thing is that it was one of the boys that suggested that!)
You can see the crazy personalities of the boys by these pictures, and how much fun we really did have.
I feel like there is always such a great sense of accomplishment when you finish a hike, a walk or working out. There are so many other times in my life where I have needed to clear my mind and just not think about things that are bothering me or causing me stress. Exercise of just about any kind does that for me…and clearly, it’s not unique to me, because the boys and Brandon felt it too.
I hope your weekend is fun filled with family, friends and loved ones!
