Mixing textures, colors and patterns is something that is not always easy to do.
For this outfit that I put together, the textures included: Satin (pants), Wool (sweater), Rayon with leather (jacket), Patent (shoes)…
When I am mixing fabrics and colors I like to keep textures that are similar away from each other – for example, on my sweater the sleeves were satin, but they were far enough away from the pants so that they didn’t look too “matchy.” The Jacket had completely different textures, but added an air of professionalism and the shoes highlighted the pop of color from the sweater.
Accessories are also important – I wanted to wear a statement necklace and love the Crystal necklace that I wore – it is not too much while at the same time drawing attention to it.
When you experiment with colors, patterns and textures there are many ways to do it. Try different combinations until you feel comfortable with what you are wearing – don’t wear things that you are not sure about, because that will affect your confidence because you may be second guessing yourself all day long.
As much as we may hate to admit it, putting together an outfit does require some effort, and that effort can be appreciated by others that you meet. In my experience the effort is worth it, and I have a better day because I am not worrying about what I am wearing. Ultimately the goal is to just feel good about yourself, and taking time for yourself in putting together an outfit definitely can set you on the road to feeling good.
