Black has always been the color that is easy and versatile, but what if I told you that White can be exactly the same? Would you try it?
Today’s post shows how wearing White (or Winter White) is a great way to look classy and sophisticated, and very often different because there are not a lot of people that will give it a try. So, if you are looking for something that is going to make you stand out, perhaps this is that thing. Because it can be worn just like you wear Black, you can wear it simply or really funk it up! As you can see, I used these Gold ankle strap pumps to do just that.
White is versatile, but it is not as forgiving as Black can be, so make sure when you pick your outfit, choose pieces that are made of thicker fabric, are not too clingy (because that will really stand out) and that the styles are flattering to your body type. If you have long legs make sure you consider that when picking the style of skirt you wear – wearing a skirt that is too short, especially in White, is not always appropriate. It looks great in the summer when you have a tan, or if worn with tights, but it doesn’t look great if you have really pale legs and the skirt is too short.
My mum always told me that when she was younger and the mini skirt was in, she was told that it was a little too “mini” if she knelt down and the skirt didn’t touch the ground. I think that could a great rule of thumb here on most occasions.
I look forward to the days when I can wear White summer dresses and have a glowing tan, but we are not there yet. So, in the meantime I am wearing White fabrics that are thicker and more appropriate for days that can be unpredictable. This skirt is made of wool and the blouse is lace, the combination with the Gold shoes is very striking, but it is easy enough to substitute with a different blouse or different contrasting shoes. I sometimes wear leopard print shoes, and a great bright colored pair always works too!
Again the key to wearing something like all White is not being afraid to try something that is a little different from what you have worn before. You may not like everything that you try, but you will never know unless you do.
