“Feminism isn’t about making women strong. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength.” — G.D. Anderson

Feminine Beauty Secrets?

The secret to real beauty comes from inside you. You can certainly accentuate any look by using certain makeup, styling your hair in certain ways and by keeping yourself fit and healthy.

“Beauty comes the moment you decide to be yourself!”

I have found that when I am feeling beautiful, people are drawn to that energy.

So, what it the key to finding that inner beauty – I think it is maximizing your assets, avoiding things that make you feel less than positive and putting forth an effort in your appearance and health.

You can still look amazing if you have just pulled back your hair into a ponytail, so long as your hair is not greasy. Hygiene is very important in how other people view you – if you don’t have time to wash and dry your hair, you can still be clean and use dry shampoo’s to avoid the greasy look.

“Beauty is not defined by the size of your Jeans.”

Growing up in England Jeans I didn’t really wear Jeans as much as I do now living in the US, however, I do love how versatile they can be. If you are not accustomed to wearing Jeans, it doesn’t mean that you can’t give them a try. No matter your size or body shape, there will always be a pair that you can find that is flattering to you…you just have to make sure that you shop in the right places. I am a little too curvy for some styles of Jeans, so I tend to steer away from certain brands and pairs from certain stores, and the only reason I know this is because I have tried them on in the past.

So many pair of Jeans are now made from stretchy denim which is awesome, because it means that they are so much more versatile. However, if you do find a pair of stretchy Jeans bear in mind that if you buy a larger size because you don’t want them too tight, it is most likely not going to adjust the fit too much but the waist will be larger (The purpose of stretchy Jeans is that they are fitted, so if you are not comfortable with tight, I would steer away from them).

Challenge yourself to find the perfect style of Jeans for you…this will help you feel like you have more feminine qualities and personal style beautiful. It is all about personal style and women empowerment. Why is women empowerment important? When you feel comfortable in your own clothes you feel powerful!

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself!”

It doesn’t matter what kind of environment you work in, or if you don’t work outside the home, there are going to be times when you are going to be required to dress and look professional. For some of us it’s going to be more often than others, but that doesn’t matter, it is still invaluable to know how to dress the part.

As I have discussed many times, the first impression you create can be either be beneficial or detrimental depending on how you present yourself. How you present yourself is not just dependent on what you wear, but that definitely does play a huge part. With that being said, if you want to have a positive experience or accomplish success in whatever it is you are doing, you are going to want to put in a little thought to how you present yourself and what you wear. There are many different topics for empowering women, but one is definitely fashion and how clothing can help with confidence and power.

Personal Style Formula

What is personal style?

How do you describe your personal style and beauty? I can help give you personal style examples, but more importantly I can help you define and be able to describe your personal style but walking you through my own formula.

I follow the formula of “whatever you are doing, try to make sure you look your best doing it”…

With that being said, being healthy and getting fit are no exception.

Even when you know you are going to be sweating and leaving your gym or trainer looking not so perfect, at least when you walk in before your session, you can have an air of confidence and swagger. What is personal style definition, you ask? It is all about your likes and tastes.

I like to coordinate my running shoes with what I am wearing…

It may sound a little pretentious and may not work for you, but I have found that the better I feel when I go to workout, the more likely I am to work harder and therefore get better results.

There are definitely times when I don’t feel great or feel like putting in the effort to make the most of myself – I am not saying that 100% of the time you need to look like a million dollars…but what I am saying is that if you put in the effort wherever possible you will reap the benefits.  It starts with people noticing how great you look, telling you and then you starting to feel more and more confident.

“She is the lady in red when everybody else is wearing tan.”

My favorite color has always been red, I turn to red when I am looking to feel vibrant, confident, sexy, and to convey a feeling of action.

I absolutely feel feminine when I wear dresses that are fitted, but not too tight, and in colors that really stand out.  This cut and style of dress is something that I fall back on quite often because it works for my body type.  It has gathers around the mid section, so if you have a problem area around your stomach, this style of dress will mask that for you.  Make sure that if you are wearing a fitted dress for something other than an event (so like I wore it while I drove to an appointment), that it is either not too tight, or the fabric has some give, so that you don’t have ugly creases and look sloppy.  Another thing to bear in mind is that if you are wearing a dress like this for an event where you will be eating, you will want to make sure that you are able to do that without creating a stomach pooch.

Shoes are also key – they need to be sexy and feminine but also comfortable.  I love these BCBG shoes because the heel is not too high, yet because of the stud details they really stand out. Research my blog to find a personal style example.

Do you have the confidence to wear red or another bold color – I bet you do!  Go for it!

What is women empowerment?

To help you exude confidence because you feel good and know you look great…

Simple Steps

Just follow these simple steps:

  • Be true to yourself – when you are working out only wear clothes that are comfortable and versatile.
  • Experiment – pick a cool colored pair of running shoes to add some bang to your tired workout attire.

Remember the fabric – some fabrics are better than others.  Try to steer away from light colored bottoms that can show sweat when you don’t want them to!

Remember that it is important to only do things that make you feel comfortable.  If you do that and incorporate a few suggestions that I give you, it will help you to feel good no matter what you are doing!

One of my favorite women empowerment quotes is:

“Make sure you don’t start seeing yourself through the eyes of those who don’t value you.  Know your worth even if they don’t.”

I was raised with the belief that I could be or do whatever I wanted to. I am extremely lucky that my parents encouraged and validated me enough to believe in myself.

That doesn’t mean that I haven’t met bumps along the way, made life harder for myself, or have just basically fallen flat on my face! But what it does mean is that no matter how many times I feel crappy, have self-doubt, insecurity, or failures, I KNOW I can pick myself up and figure something out. Whether that means trying the same thing over again or trying to do something a different way, I don’t quit.

As the years have progressed, I have found that the more success I have, the more confidence comes from it. I feel very secure in my abilities and know that the only thing holding me back is ME.

After Graduating from College, still living in England, I had an interview with a Pharmaceutical company that I thought went really well. I made it to the third round of interviews – feeling really confident in myself and my abilities I met with the female recruiter only to have a conversation I was not expecting. She explained to me that I would be meeting with Doctors who expect to see a Woman who (words to the effect of) “wears a short skirt”. Being a Young Woman I was absolutely appalled that someone could expect something like this. I was definitely naïve but I have realized as my career has gone on, that unfortunately you meet people like this all the time.

I made it my goal to find a way to express myself with style that did not dictate how short or tight my clothing was. Being remembered should not be for these reasons. I believed that my intelligence would be what people remembered, but after years of experience, I have found that unfortunately that is not the case. Why am I telling you this? Because… if you want to be remembered, the most important factor, is to be your own unique self. Fashions will fade, your confidence and belief in yourself (that very often can come from looking and feeling great) is what people will remember.

You will notice that I don’t always follow rules for fashion and I most certainly like to find things that are different.  Now it’s time for you to find your Unique Style.
