Spring Shopping Style

“Each day is a page in your fashion story!”

As I am on my shopping trip in NY I wanted to post an outfit that is perfect for shopping in the spring in NY!

Perfect for comfort, changing weather and most importantly for style!  I plan on doing lots walking, shopping and of course finding amazing food to eat…

Stay tuned for some videos and I am hoping there’s not too much rain 🙂

Don’t forget to Accessorize

“Nothing haunts us like the things we didn’t buy.”

Something that is very easily forgotten but almost as important as picking out an outfit, are the addition of accessories.  It doesn’t mean you always have to wear “every” type of accessory, but there are definitely times when an outfit can be lacking if you don’t include any.

The addition of a great statement necklace, bracelet, scarf or earrings can be a great way to take the style potential of an outfit up a notch.  The necklace I am wearing in this post is one I recently found and I absolutely love it.  It is a choker, but not one of those that cut off the circulation, and it is chunky making it really noticeable no matter what neckline you choose to wear it with!

It’s important to not get too carried away by including every accessory you own or wearing pieces where they are not needed. For example, if you have a blouse that has ruffles, embroidery or lace on the front, you are already making a statement so nothing else is needed there. Earrings are a little easier – I try not to overpower an outfit with chunky earrings, but I have to admit, there are definitely times when you just have to wear those things and put yourself out there. The key is not being afraid to try something, see what it looks like and take a risk!

If you are lacking in the accessory department, you need to check out this website and snag a choker like this one, or something similar…they have great prices, quality and selection. Click the link  here  to snag one of your own pieces and enter the code THANKYOU at checkout for an exclusive discount.

Spring and summer are a great time to start adding some fun, bright and exciting accessories to your closet…go ahead, treat yourself!

Ruffles for Spring

“Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard.  Do not let pain make you hate.  Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness!”

A lot of what I have been seeing in the style magazines and on blogs talks about how ruffles are the big thing this spring.  This post shows you just a few examples of how cute ruffles can be, and if you want to make sure you are taking advantage of some of the ones I have found and love, I have created some shopping links below to make it easier for you to shop for some of your own ruffles for spring.

One of the great things about ruffles are that they are very feminine and versatile.  As you can see, there are many than can be worn as part of a casual outfit or even worn for work…

There are so many unique ruffle styles, so many colors, and so many different ways to wear them!  The Salmon Pink top shown above is one of my favorites…I added a little funk by pairing it with these amazing floral pumps and some contrasting Red sunglasses.  Sometimes, the statement from an outfit can be made by the shoes and/or accessories, just like I did in this post.  Not that the ruffle top isn’t enough, but sometimes colors can seem a little bland unless you pair them with a bright, bold color.

I have always been drawn to Red, so the Red ruffle top shown above was a no brainer for me…
There is nothing like a top that is just a little different and not plain to boost your wardrobe credability!

The faux leather capri’s shown above are another unique way to wear ruffles that you most certainly will only see the really bold trying.  Have you ever looked at something and thought to yourself “I couldn’t pull that off!” – well, my question to you is, have you ever tried?  Have you ever tried something that is just a little outside your comfort zone to see if it would suit you and push you to be your own unique self.  It doesn’t mean everyone should go out there and try some faux leather capri’s, or even something that really doesn’t fit their personality or body type, but chances are there is something that you have seen and have been afraid to try.  If that is the case, why don’t you go ahead and give it a try anyway and see if it works for you – how else will you ever know?

Check out some of my ruffle picks below that vary from subtle ruffles right up to the really bold look…you should at least own one ruffle piece in your closet, and if you don’t already, now’s your chance!

Sandal Weather

“Aerodynamically the bumble bee shouldn’t be able to fly, but the bumble bee doesn’t know that and it goes on flying anyway!”

After such a rainy day here in Utah yesterday, I was so happy to see sunshine today (albeit a little windy), and it gave me the opportunity to wear some sandals.  Fortunately it hasn’t been too long since I had a pedicure so my toenails looked appropriately good to be exposed 🙂

Having sunny days means so many more possibilities for your wardrobe, and also so many more reasons to keep up on your healthy eating habits, exercise and of course, personal hygiene (particularly pedicures and waxing).

As the sun starts to shine I often find myself singing to myself the Frank Sinatra song “Blue Skies”…it sings of optimism, and gratitude, which is what I like to feel all the time, but for some reason it comes a little easier when the sun is shining.

I love the sandals in this post because they are little different than just your typical sandal – I love finding unique styles, and if you feel the same way, and are looking for some great options for this spring, click some great finds on the links below…

I like to call it Funk!

“Shoes are just a pedestal – what interests me is the power of the woman who wears them!”

I love finding shoes that are really unique and stand out.  In fact, I probably have a few more shoes than most people because I love them so much!

Anyone who knows me knows that shoes or pretty much any footwear are my favorite purchase because they are something that can always improve any outfit and therefore the most important element!

I am always on the lookout for unique styles and like to find shoes when I do my out of state shopping trips because I like it when I find a pair that I know not many people will have.  The boots that I am highlighting in this post are a pair that I got for Christmas (after sending the online link of where to purchase them) from my husband 🙂  The heel is really different and that is what made me love them so much.

I also find a lot of my shoes online and there are some websites that have some great styles – and if you are a real bargain shopper you can find great deals around this time of year…

Check out some of my amazing shoe picks below.

Is it Warm?

“You’ll never leave where you are until you decide where you’d rather be!”

I had the pleasure of spending the last week on Kauai with my husband, in the sun and sand, exploring, relaxing and enjoying each other and our lives!  Stay tuned for pics of that adventure to come…

With that being said, even though it is pretty warm here in Utah, I am feeling cooolddd!!  This post just sums up what I want to do right now…cuddle up in a cozy sweater and wait for spring to get here.  OK, so I know I’m being a wimp but it’s funny when you get used to warmer weather, suddenly everything any cooler that that is just COLD!

After a few more days I may feel a little more acclimated so I can start posting some pictures of more spring feeling outfits, because I have to say, I see a light at the end of the tunnel with no more inversion and sunshine on my mind!

Spring is probably the season I anticipate the most because I am so anxious for winter to be over. Not that I don’t love the scenery with the snow, I just get worn down by the cold…

I still love this sweater and I am going to have to find a excuse to wear it a few more times before spring finally does arrive. The whole over-sized sweater look for this winter is one that works for every body type – the point is to have it loose and just cozy looking. It is an easy look to recreate, but if you want to make sure the look is cozy yet polished you will want to make sure that your shoes fit the outfit. I am wearing higher heels, but you could get away with flats if they are not sloppy looking (see some examples of flats and other shoe options below you could choose from)

I know for a fact that even though the temperatures are warmer right now that we WILL have snow again here in Utah and I am going to have plenty more opportunities to be cozy and sit by the fire…

Stay warm my friends…

Let’s Shop

“No decision should be made on an empty shopping bag!”

I am always thinking about styles, fashion and shopping – OK, maybe not always, but a lot.  The reason I do is because I like to explore new websites, new styles, find things that fit my style personality and things I think will be unique for me.  With that being said, it can be hard sometimes to find a good deal AND stay unique.

If I find a store I love (whether it’s a brick and mortar or an online store) that is having a sale, I immediately jump on board and shop around…because there are always deals to be had, and if it is an online store, I like to buy quickly so I don’t miss out on the right sizes of things that I like.

I recently downloaded the Zara app for my phone and found some amazing sale items, and since Zara is not in Utah, I know that I am not going to see everyone else wearing the same things.

Since it is the weekend, and since we all generally have a little more time at the weekend, I found some great sales, and thought I would pass those along to you….

Check out one of the links below for some amazing offers!  I know I am going to checking out these same things – who knows, maybe we’ll end up with the same things 🙂

Have a fun weekend and happy shopping!

Holiday Style Tips

“Don’t be afraid to sparkle a little brighter.”

I have featured in some posts recently leather and faux leather skirts…and here is another look at one I posted earlier this week.  I wanted to highlight it again because I love the cut of the skirt and it is something that you don’t see very often.  Leather is very often shorter and tight, but this skirt works for many other figure types because it is looser fitting, and it is also more modest, without foregoing style.

I paired mine with a simple Grey leopard sweater and some block heel peep toe shoes.  If you are looking for a statement outfit, a skirt with a similar cut to this one would be a great way to be noticed.  I also think it would look amazing with some funky tights (perhaps fishnet or other similar knits), because the cut allows you to see some of your leg and they would be really noticeable.  You could also add some stiletto pumps, or even some block heel Velvet shoes (because mixing fabrics is something that can be really fun to do as well).

Looking for some great Holiday party ideas of things to wear, you can click the links below to find some of your own…

Just because it’s cold outside and you are really busy shopping etc for the Holiday season, doesn’t mean that you can’t find yourself an excuse to dress up and go out and show off your style.  Whether you are going to an Adult party, more kid friendly party, or just to dinner, there are so many ways you can look chic this Holiday season.  Wearing a simple dress is something you can do if you add a stylish leather or Fur coat over it.  Cold weather definitely does not mean your style needs to be “cold”!

Happy Weekend…

Boots Shopping

“If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you!”

We officially had our first snow here in Utah yesterday, so it made sense for me to pull out a pair of knee high boots (I’ve been fighting wearing them until now in hopes to stave off the colder weather).  These boots are one of my favorites – mainly because I love the color, but also because they are not too high, and even though I love wearing high heels, I do realize that it’s not always practical to wear heels to high when it’s snowy, icy or rainy.  Yes, I know, practicality does sometimes factor into my wardrobe choices 🙂

If you are interested in buying some boots like this, you can click the link below and get yourself some fun and sexy tall boots for winter.  These boots are great for wearing over skinny pants, leggings or even with a dress or skirt.  They do not zip up, however, they are not too tight around the calves, so you can still pull them on easily without having a fight every time to want to wear them.

I actually have larger calves – or at least they are not skinny, so I don’t like boots that cut off the circulation to my legs.  Or even those that leave indentations when I wear them for long periods of time.  This weekend’s newsletter is going to feature some other great boots that you can buy for yourselves, so if you have not already signed up for that, please don’t forget to do that!

I don’t know about you but I am honestly really ready for the weekend – albeit that I am going to be planning and buying supplies for our Thanksgiving.  I am also going to be thinking about holiday gifting and talking about some of my favorite things to do around the Holidays.  We definitely have different traditions in England – one of which is that we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving (but I like to celebrate both England and American traditions, so I think I get the best of both worlds!)

Have a great weekend and as you head into the Holidays next week, don’t forget to contemplate all the things you have to be Thankful for, and enjoy times with your families…
