I am thankful that I have a husband that pushes me to try new things and embark on many adventures. When I go on vacation I definitely like to take the time to relax and read – that is pretty much all I would do if I have my choice…but if I did that I wouldn’t have had the chance to do the things we did or see the things we saw while we were in Kauai!
From riding horses, hiking to waterfalls, rock climbing, whale watching, kayaking, riding water tubes down irrigation tubes, to exploring the botanical gardens where they filmed some of Jurassic Park, we definitely had our share of fun. Of course, that doesn’t mean that I didn’t get the chance to sit on the beach and read 2 books, but the trip felt a lot more fun and adventurous than it would have been had I been the one making the plans.
I have always loved to travel – in fact, growing up most of my memories come from times spent together on vacation. I feel very blessed to have been able to make those memories with my family and enjoy time together, so when I had a family of my own, I knew that I wanted to continue with that tradition. This trip was just Brandon and I, but those memories are just as important as the ones we make with our boys. We are always planning when our next trip will be, and we have experienced many different kinds of trips with our family. February, when it’s my birthday, is one of the times I absolutely have to travel somewhere…I get a little down during the inversion in Salt Lake so by traveling somewhere I get to break up that funk and revitalize myself.
Coming home to warmer weather has definitely made me feel that spring is in the air, and that things are really starting to look up!
A lot of our trips are road trips with the boys, and we don’t always have to travel far, but wherever we go and whatever we do, we always work our way through the fights and make the trip a success. It really doesn’t matter where you go and what you do, you can make amazing memories!
