Have you ever heard the expression “fake it until you feel it?” – as I get older I have realized that life is not always sunshine and roses, it is most definitely not always going to look like the picture I envisioned my life would look like as I was growing up. BUT, the key is that you can decide how you feel and act regardless of what your circumstances are. In fact, the more positive an attitude you have, the more likely you are going to see positive outcomes from your life.
In Salt Lake right now the inversion where the Valley looks overcast, cloudy, the air quality is bad, and the temperatures are really low and locked in because of the Smog and pollution we have. It’s hit earlier than it usually does, so what that means is everything looks grey, stark and very cold. I have always been a person that loves sunshine, in fact, while I was in England I owned a tanning bed to allow me to get some Vitamin D rays when we didn’t see very much sunshine. I feel down, depressed, and very often my mood matched the Grey of the weather! That is something that is physiological…but does it mean that I can’t change it? I don’t think so!
Today is Grey but I feel remarkably “perky” and I think the reason is because I have DECIDED that is what I am going to feel. 2017 is going to be the year for me to no longer be a slave to my circumstances, but rather I will be making the choices for how my life will turn out! Hence, the “fake it until you feel it” analogy…but I prefer “choose to feel it”.
So, what is it that makes you feel happy? is it working out? getting dressed up? spending time with your family or loved ones?
My challenge for you is to spend more time doing what makes you feel good, so you can achieve your 2017 goals!
