My Leopard Style

“Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the World!”

Following yesterday’s sneak peak on how to style with Leopard print shoes, here is the whole outfit I put together…

I went with solid darker colors so as not to draw attention away from the shoes, and added a great winter faux leather coat.  Putting together an outfit like this is easy and you can create it on your own by using items in your own closet.  The only thing you NEED are the shoes.

Everyone needs a little leopard in their life!

How to Spice up your Outfit

“As far as I’m concerned, leopard is a neutral.”

Have you ever looked at what you are wearing thought it was missing something? Some color, an accessory or it was just ordinary?

This is a common feeling, so here is a quick solution…

Wear leopard print shoes!

But…what is the best thing to wear with leopard print shoes?

  1. Dark colors – this is the easiest to pull off. Leopard matches just about every dark color (black, brown, burgundy, or even dark green).

  2. Strong solid colors – the key is the have the shoes be your focus. Don’t wear other patterns which would detract from the great shoes.

  3. Denim – this is a really popular one right now – you can wear jeans, a denim shirt, or even a denim dress.

  4. Match the print – a little harder, but still something you can do by choosing leopard in different colors. For example, wear the tan leopard print along with a purse or accessory that is a contrasting color (such as white or red leopard print).

I chose to wear olive green pants with my leopard print shoes…stay tuned for more details on my outfit this week!

Victorian Style

“If loving fashion is a crime, I plead guilty.”

With the weather being as cold as it is, I took the opportunity today to wear this great full length Victorian Style coat that I recently purchased…

It is a great dark green color and went really well with the black skirt and top.  It really helped finish off the entire outfit and make it just a little different!

When you are considering wearing a long coat, here are a few things to consider:

  1. How are you going to style them with other outfits to make them look glamorous?

  2. Which long coat is the most flattering style for your body type?

You can create a more sophisticated and elegant look with a coat.  Ankle length coats work especially well for taller women, however, if you are not taller, just add a pair of heels and the look will work for you (just like I did in this post).

Sunday is a great day to wear something that makes you feel special and look amazing.  Find your own full length or long coat and create your own Victorian Style look.

Winter in Style

“The best style in Winter is warmth.”

I used to think that being out in the snow required frumpy, unstylish clothes…

I’m here to tell you that is not the case!  In this post I wanted to show how casual, winter warm clothes can still look amazing.

How do you create a great winter outfit.  Start out by choosing a winter coat (like the fur accented one I am featuring here), add in some warm, practical, fun boots.  The rest of the outfit needs to be really simple like casual fitting jeans/leggings and a sweatshirt.  Casual winter doesn’t need to be boring…

Adding the sequined sweatshirt with the snake print boots are a great way to make sure that you will look great.

This look is easy enough to replicate – you could do the same with any Ugg’s that contrast your outfit – it looks better to contrast than to try and match colors too closely.

The Perfect Blouse

“Clothes mean nothing until someone lives in them!” – Marc Jacobs

There are so many styles and colors of blouses available now.  So, how do you find the right one…?

How I like to determine the blouse I will wear is by using the following guidelines:

  1. Determine what I am going to be doing during the time I will be wearing the blouse?  Am I going to be working, is it a social event or just for day to day wear?

  2. What do I want to wear with the blouse?  Am I thinking skirt, pants, or do I want it to match a certain pair of shoes?

  3. Who will I be seeing during the time I am wearing this blouse?  This is an important question because you want to steer away from something too form fitting, clingy or see through if you are working or seeing clients.

Once I have asked these questions, I set to work determining which blouse is perfect for the outfit I want to wear…

For this outfit, I chose to wear a box cut pale pink blouse that had flowing sleeves and I like the color combination with the Leopard Print shoes.  When you wear culottes a business style blouse that is tucked in would work equally as well.  This outfit is something that could be worn for work because it is conservative yet not boring.  I always like to be a little different, so the shoes added that twist for me.

Box style blouses look best with pants that are looser fitting (like these culottes) or business suit pants.  If you wanted to wear a skirt, I prefer to wear this style of blouse with a mid length pencil skirt to add a little dimension.

Family Party Style

“Years End is neither an end or beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.” – Hal Borland

Celebrating New Years in another country is a first for me!  We had so much fun and got to find out some new traditions…for example, the waiter handed us all a little bag of grapes in the lead up to midnight.  We just thought that it was another food item at this “all inclusive”, but we came to find out that it is a Mexican tradition to eat one grape at each chime of the clock at midnight!

We had fun spending time with family and friends, and I loved that I got to get a little more dressed up than usual.

I love the color and flow of this great yellow skirt – the cut also hides a lot of evils (like over-eating at an “all inclusive” resort).

Yellow is such a great summer color – but because we were where it is sunny, I felt like it was a great opportunity to wear this skirt.  These are family pictures because there was no way for them to not be involved at such a special time of year…

Vacation Night Style

“Once a year go someplace you’ve never been before.”

When on vacation it’s always fun to add in elements that you may not normally do!

In today’s post I wanted to show how fun black can be by just adding some gold shoes and flowered black pants.

The whole ensemble is very fun and a little different than your regular maxi dresses that are quite often worn on vacation.  Adding pants like this (or even Palazzo or culotte type looser fitting pants) is a great way to spice up your vacation wardrobe style.

Have fun and experiment with fun patterns and colors.

Party like a Princess

“Style is a deeply personal expression of who you are, and every time you dress you are asserting a part of yourself.”

The perfect skirt for dressing up for the Holidays is a full Tulle skirt!

If any of you have ever watched Sex in the City, Carrie Bradshaw made the Tulle or tutu skirt famous…now is the perfect time for you to bring it to your closet.

If you are looking for something that is form flattering for just about any size or shape, this style of skirt is the one you are looking for.  The great thing about Tulle is that it can be worn in so many ways…

You can dress it up by wearing a nice detailed or sequined top or sweater, or dress it down using leather or denim.

I chose to pair this black skirt with a tight fitted black top, a fun cropped fur jacket and gold shoes.  The combination is definitely chic and worthy of a princess.

I  loved this shoot – feeling the skirt flow as I walked down the stairs was a fun and a great way to show how fun the skirt could be.

Styling with Metallics

“Fashion has always been repetition of ideas, but what makes it different is how you put it together.”

The Holiday season is a great time to add some metallics to your wardrobe.  It always makes me feel more dressed up, more beautiful and just generally better about everything.

I love wearing gold specifically, and because these colors are so popular during the Holiday Season, now is a great time for you to experiment with something you wouldn’t normally try.

Adding metallics or glitter can be something as simple as adding a scarf with sequins in silver, gold or even rose gold.

I love this outfit because the skirt is really flattering with the tulle underskirt, and just makes the whole outfit seem more fun!  These kind of skirts are great because they can be dressed up or dressed down.  I chose to pair it with a plain black top, pearls, black tights with gold polkadots, and a fun fur jacket (it would also look great with a Black Leather Biker Jacket for a more edgy style).

Mixing Textures, Colors and Patterns

“Style is putting our own signature on the clothes that we wear and the way that we live”.

Putting together an outfit that combines different colors, textures and patterns is much easier than you think.  The key is to have each piece contrast and compliment the others.

In this post, I wanted to show how you can do this…

The jacket is velvet, the shirt has shine like satin, the skirt is quilted and then by adding the sheer tights and leopard shoes it creates a really unique look.  I added the accent necklace just to give a little pop and prevent the shirt and jacket from being “just plain black”.

I love to combine velvet with shiny or leather items because they definitely compliment each other.

When you are choosing an outfit, there are a lot of factors that need to be taken into consideration. Shape, color, cut, texture, pattern and shine are all very important factors when it comes to the things you put on.

Mixing fabrics isn’t hard to do, however if you don’t do it right you are going to stand out but not in a good way.

A great easy start is by mixing Denim with cotton, because is an example of how you can compliment fabrics in your outfit, or you can try leather with cotton…
